We sometimes see Pharisees as needlessly attached to rules. But if we look around us at the debates in modern Christianity, we face the same challenges the Pharisees and Jesus did: in a world that is not well-ordered, how do we worship God and follow Jesus? How do we interpret the teachings we read? Jesus shows us that it is by aiming to end suffering. Especially when someone is fleeing from oppression and war.
