The sermon series on the early kings of Israel ends with the downfall of David's reign. We are reminded how important it is to remember the faults in our past, and the follies of great leaders. Remembering that great people can do terrible things cautions us to be intentional in our actions, to seek the good and look at ourselves through outside eyes. Jesus tells us we need not fear being found wanting.
