The Ascension is a part of the Jesus story we often forget. On this Sunday, we celebrated the penultimate departure of Jesus from his ministry among us on earth. We were reminded of the handoff in his duties from him to us. Just as students are instructed by their teachers and professors for years and then sent into the world, with his departure, we are here, caring for one another and assured of God's confidence in us.
